Bookshelf Garden

Bookshelf Garden

.

My bookshelf is one of the most important pieces of furniture in my room. One of the reasons is basically that it’s taking up all of the space beneath the window and it is in my immediate line of sight when I open my bedroom door. Beyond this simple reason, the bookshelf is where I store little tiny things such as stationery stuff, hair curlers, odds and ends, etc. not only books. Also, the bookshelf is a garden for my plants.

Simply, all you need to prepare is some wood planks and bricks. I used the wooden planks which were custom made when I was young so it was quite pricey, but you can easily source cheap wood tops in IKEA. Before I stacked the bricks on the floor, I put down a piece of thick cardboard cut from a box to prevent scratching the floor. Three bricks go to one layer and I layered bricks inverse to each other in each layer.

Now, I put my little bits and bobs, for example, clips, pins, water paints, brushes, photos and some documents in boxes which go on the bookshelf. You can put the boxes next to books and I put even a calendar and some pens next to my cosy arm chair which acts like an little table when I drink tea, read books, and watch movies.

This bookshelf made with bricks and wooden planks can be used in so many ways such as a shoe shelf or even a bench. It’s so brilliant that I can actually adjust the size and height by myself.
